'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses following the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to celebrate, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. Amid the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a upcoming game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for club and country, shining for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I realized I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
